Online resources

It is the responsibility of individual members of staff, students or others working on behalf of City St George's, University of London to make legitimate use of material whose copyright they do not own.

Use of our online resources is governed by legal contracts between City St George's, University of London and external suppliers. There are rules about how these resources can be used.

Authorised users of online resources are normally current staff and students. For further details about 'Authorised Users', please see:

Authorised users can:

• Use online resources for academic purposes.
• Access, browse and search online resources, and display contents on the screen.
• Download or print a limited number of records for academic purposes (check download and printing limits for your chosen resource).
• Download, copy or print a fixed percentage of an e-book (check supplier’s specifications).
• Download single copies of online journal articles or email them to your email address for personal research purposes.
• Reproduce or quote limited portions of the database contents for academic purposes, acknowledging the source.

Authorised users cannot:

• Share or disclose login details for online resources to other parties. This includes password(s) for electronic resources or IT account details.
• Share any material with unauthorised users (for example, non-members of City St George's, University of London).
• Carry out systematic, bulk or automatic downloading.
• Make multiple copies of any material.
• Download, copy or print out more than the supplier specified percentage of an e-book.
• Systematically make copies of a whole issue of a journal.
• Use online resources for commercial purposes. Commercial purposes are activities which result in profit/monetary reward or commercially funded research which is not shared in the public domain.
• Modify the text of any copyright material or any related copyright statement.
• Make licensed material available to others over any kind of network or by email.
