Overview

Ovid is a specialist search platform. It is an interface that allows you to perform advanced literature searches in databases including:

  • MEDLINE
  • Embase
  • Global Health
  • PsycInfo
  • Maternity & Infant Care Database (MIDIRS)

Before using a database, it is best to create a search plan.  For guidance on how to plan a search, visit the literature searching and finding evidence guide.

This guide is intended for students and staff at City St George's. NHS staff can use OpenAthens to access MEDLINE, AMED and Embase through Ovid.

Accessing databases with Ovid

City St George's students and staff (Tooting)

  1. Visit the Databases A-Z list for Tooting
  2. Select the database you want to access
  3. Log in with your M-number and password

St George's NHS staff

  1. Visit the Databases A-Z list for NHS staff
  2. Select the database you want to access
  3. Log in with your OpenAthens credentials
